About this setup
The server is built around an uncomfortable rule: there are no finished solutions. You get the next step, an explanation and the place where it is stuck - as often as you like. That is written in the rules, in the knowledge base and in the questions of the mentor application, because it is the difference between a learning server and a homework service. Questions and code reviews live as forums with status and topic tags. Everyone sets through a role how strict people may be with their code - merciless, constructive or only what matters. That ends the misunderstanding in which a beginner shows a first attempt and gets an architecture debate. Fourteen languages have their own channels and roles, plus ten roles for fields of interest from web to embedded systems. The project board is a forum with the most important tag of all: "Beginner friendly" - the place where somebody works on someone else's code for the first time. A dedicated career section catches the questions that come after the learning: application materials, interviews, the first job, freelancing. Job postings are limited to vetted posters and go through a ticket, so the channel does not turn into advertising space.
